In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X, somewhere on the Mexican border. However, Logan's attempts to hide from the world, and his legacy, are upended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces.
In 2029 the mutant population has shrunken significantly due to genetically modified plants designed to reduce mutant powers and the X-Men have disbanded. Logan, whose power to self-heal is dwindling, has surrendered himself to alcohol and now earns a living as a chauffeur. He takes care of the ailing old Professor X whom he keeps hidden away. One day, a female stranger asks Logan to drive a girl named Laura to the Canadian border. At first he refuses, but the Professor has been waiting for a long time for her to appear. Laura possesses an extraordinary fighting prowess and is in many ways like Wolverine. She is pursued by sinister figures working for a powerful corporation; this is because they made her, with Logan's DNA. A decrepit Logan is forced to ask himself if he can or even wants to put his remaining powers to good use. It would appear that in the near-future, the times in which they were able put the world to rights with razor sharp claws and telepathic powers are now over.
This was the movie Everyone Wanted, It's amazing how superhero's suffer in the real world that it's not a comic book. And that people die
For so long we've been waiting to see a true Wolverine movie. After a mediocre "X-men Origins: Wolverine" and a not so good "The Wolverine" movie, James Mangold (Director of "The Wolverine") returns and delivers, giving us THE Wolverine movie we all fans deserved…"Logan". I'm gonna get right into the point by breaking down the things I loved about "Logan" and the things that I didn't. I'll start with the ones that I loved (which obviously are more): -R rated f#ck!ng action: Having seen what an R rated comic-book movie looks like (Deadpool) we were all pumped for Logan being rated R. But…due to the movie being more serious and darker the R rated action given to us by "Logan" is way more interesting, intriguing and satisfying. Very good choreographed fight scenes with bloody and sometimes shocking results improving the R rated action of Deadpool and giving us that chill whenever the claws came out. -Villains: Despite not being good enough, the villains of "Logan" are descent and better that the average villains of the MCU. The relationship the main villain has with Logan is very well established at the beginning and I really enjoyed watching the two of them go. The movie has two basic villains and one third who was quite a surprise to me when I saw him on-screen (about half-way through the movie). -Relationships: Apart from Logan the movie has two more main characters one being Charles Xavier aka Professor X (or at least he used to be) and X-23 aka Laura. I really liked the relationship between Logan and Charles which is a bit confusing at the beginning (due to a certain condition Charles faces) but then turns out to be good and devastating. As for X-23, the movie is pretty much all about her and Logan. When they first meet its kind of awkward but the movie explores their relationship and evolves it quite good. -Continuing the "Days of Future Past" timeline: The original X-men timeline involves mutants being hunted and killed in a post-apocalyptic society but as Wolverine travels back in time he creates a new timeline, the one the "confusing" "X-men: Days of Future Past" ending showed us. The movie is set in the year 2029 and is actually the continuation of the new timeline as DoFP showcased. The movie did explore the past a bit with somethings having played out with a quite similar way as they did in the original X-men trilogy and I liked how they showed us the way "time" balances facts. Wolverine prevented the Mutants vs. Sentinels apocalypse thus, time is now repaying us with an alternate 2029 with mutants being almost extinct. -The Grit: One of the most important reasons "Logan" differs from other comic- book movies (apart from the R rated action) is the darkness and grittiness it contains. It's among the darkest comic-book movies EVER MADE with the protagonists being completely broken and with the movie feeling no pity about them at all. The movie has its lighthearted moments to let the audience escape from the darkness but overall its depressing and gritty as F#CK and I f#ck!ng loved it for that. -Hugh Jackman: Was there any doubt? The dude gives one of his finest performances as the Wolverine that he is. His acting, his physical performance everything was perfect. Enough Said. These were pretty much the things I liked about "Logan". Time for the things that I didn't like: -Mutants: For a world where mutants are an endangered species "Logan" has quite a few mutants in it. I get the fact they are escaped laboratory experiments but the movie didn't establish their abilities or them as characters, giving us a corny action packed 3rd act which should have been entirely focused on Logan and his ending fight which could have been way more awesome and iconic if the movie wasn't constantly showing us the young mutants demonstrating their powers. -Mutant apocalypse: A bit confusing was the way the mutants initially died and the movie doesn't really explore that apart from a line Charles said. I don't wanna get into spoilers but I really would have liked a more solid explanation or a flashback of what really happened given the fact of how important X-men are in this movie (It's not only about Logan it's about X-men as well). These are pretty much all the things I didn't like. The movie is well directed, it has some cool moments, epic rated R action, descent villains and soundtrack and the finest performance when it comes to a superhero role: Hugh Jackman as James Logan aka The Wolverine. 8.5/10 (EXCEPTIONAL)
The loner has to learn to put someone else first. It’s both as manipulative and hokey as that sounds, but occasionally it works well enough that you might find yourself getting choked up against your better judgment.
The last of the X-Men, an aging James &quot;Logan&quot; Howitt (<a href="/name/nm0413168/">Hugh Jackman</a>) and his dying longtime friend and mentor Charles Xavier (<a href="/name/nm0001772/">Patrick Stewart</a>) become the protectors of Laura Kinney (<a href="/name/nm6748436/">Dafne Keen</a>), an 11-year-old mutant girl from the corrupt Alkali-Transigen corporation. When they discover the corporation is using mutant DNA samples to create and control mutants and use them as weapons and that the corporation also created Laura from Logan&#39;s mutant DNA, they set out to take Laura to Eden, a refuge for mutants, and Logan makes his final stand as he fights Alkali-Transigen that are after Laura and other mutant children that they created. While this film&#39;s story pulls inspiration and story ideas from several Wolverine comic book stories, the film itself is not an adaptation of any particular previously-published story. The story most noted for inspiring this film is Mark Millar&#39;s 2008 &quot;Old Man Logan&quot; mini-series. However, the final film bears no resemblance to that comic book except for minor thematic parallels. Hugh Jackman has stated through multiple media outlets that this movie will be the last time he plays Logan/Wolverine. Patrick Stewart has also said in multiple interviews that this would be the most satisfying ending for his portrayal of Charles Xavier. However, Stewart seems generally more open to returning for small cameos than Jackman. Stewart has particularly said that he is not against making an appearance in a Deadpool sequel or episode of Legion, but the idea and offer would have to make sense for him. Logan is set in 2029, which is six years after the future setting of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Director James Mangold said in interviews before the film&#39;s release that the story takes place after the &quot;good&quot; future seen at the end of Days of Future Past. Some examples of Mangold saying this can be read here and here. However, fans have debated this idea from the announcement of the film and continue to debate it after its release, since some key continuity does not match perfectly between Logan and Days of Future Past, even when considering the theoretical time travel elements presented in the earlier film. Examples of fan debate on Logan being a direct sequel to Days of Future Past or not can be watched here and here. Given the hints present in this film, it&#39;s been suggested that this film takes place in continuity after X-Men and X2: X-Men United (2003) but ignores any other films in the series. Hints to this include that the original X-Men film is referenced the most; also Logan says, &quot; There haven&#39;t been any new mutants born in 25 years.&quot; The original X-Men was said to take place around 2004-2005. If Logan takes place in 2029, that means that the pathogen that caused no new mutants to be born was released shortly after the events of these films. Given that Dr. Rice, Pierce and the Reaver team are employed by Alkali research, it&#39;s possible that the pathogen was released when the Alkali base was destroyed and got into the water supply. Creating another timeline. It&#39;s possible that this can be set after the events of the &quot;good&quot; ending of Days of Future Past. Sure, the movie is set in 2029 and Logan said that a new mutant hadn&#39;t been born in 25 years and at the end of Days of Future Past we see lots of kids at the Xavier school. But it&#39;s possible that those kids weren&#39;t mutants. In Apocalypse, Xavier said he planned to make the school open to mutants and humans, so that could be one way to explain Logan being a followup to Days of Future Past.
